I have a Inspiron 620 Dell slim desk top (Windows 7) with AMD ATI Radeon HD 6450 Low Profile video card (32 bit), 1 GB, resolution 1280x1024.
Once in a while, when I am using the Internet (random & unpredictable) I get a black screen and afterwards a message on the task bar that the video card hardware failed/error that the card failed and was repaired. Checking the action center I see "A problem with your video hardware caused Windows to stop working correctly". Sometimes the system crashed (blue screen) and reboots. I was told that this ATI card is legacy and not supported by AMD and the driver is old without update. Also I was told that any replacement card will have the same problems. I am a simple user - I don't play games or edit videos. I hate to buy a new computer - is there anything I can do - replace the card? what brand/model for under $150?

Remove the card, plug in the monitor to the motherboard video connection. For basic use, you don't need an add-on video card.
