i had a few posts on here about my computer not booting after resetting cmos battery all fans was running and everythng lights up but havent had any output to screen for 1 and half month i tried everything changing cpu changing ram psu and graphics card nothing worked but today i got lucky i did this turned computer of for short while then pressed the ac switch at same time then i released power button shortly after turning after that computer switch off then back on no result then i shorted the cmos pins as last try and after that it posted and turned on with message cmos bad checksum error and it loaded new bios after that back up and running like nothing happend.

my question what caused this error just by removing cmos battery and putting it back in ? i done this in many computers before and all it done was reset cmos.
one more question does all cmos jumpers got 3 pins ? i got one with two pins and one with 3 pins on this board it was after shorting the one with 3 pins it turned back on.
i did short em before this to but it was only after power on with ac at same time it worked

With 3 pins for CMOS reset you have to move contact from normal position to other and than back, with 2 contact ones just short those two for couple of seconds. In either case computer should be all the way off. Removing battery may not reset it properly.

ok thanks something obviously got corrupted by removing battery and putting it back in this got to be something that dont hapen often since i done that in many computes before. is it possible that some motherboards needs to short jumpers after removing battery?
strange that shorting the pins didnt work before i did the trick with the ac button and the power button at same time though
