Hey Everyone!

So i recently re-built my computer and now when i go to turn it on it does not post.
On the first power on everything appears to go smoothly with fans spinning up and the Dr. Debug on the MoBo cycling through codes until the system just stops (error codes changing fast but i think the last one is 95) and restarts. But this time no error codes, just fans spin up then power off and repeat every couple of seconds.

Turning off and on again just enters this same loop without error codes. The only way i can get the error code back is to clear CMOS then try again, just to have the exact same thing happen as in the initial power on. (error code 95)

The only thing i can do to get anything besides this to happen is to remove all ram sticks, at which point i get the no ram error code. But the board does not restart implying that the power supply is stable and the boot has just halted due to error.
I did this ram test with nothing on the MoBo but CPU, cooler and fans. Without ram stable but no ram error, with ram the reboot issue mentioned above.

Please can anyone help with my issue?

PS: i should mention that before the re-build it used to do the reboot without error codes if i had left it turned off for a long time, but this was easily fixed with a CMOS clear, then everything was fine.

Can even try and make a video if folks think it will help?

Solution

The CPU was fine, it was indeed the MoBo that had failed. They suspected a hairline fracture in the PCB because if the flexed the board the right way then they could make it work. So i have now ordered an ASUS Z97 gryphon to replace it, (hopefully that backplate will help keep it sturdy) 5 year warranty is much better than asrock's aswell!

Hey, thanks for replying, i have just tried that, 1 stick in each slot consecutively with cmos resets between each attempt and the same error 95 comes up each time before reboot.

Unlikely, I bought the board second hand, and the processor new but from ebay (was doing a super value build - high end, low price) So unless Asrock wanna be nice to me and allow an RMA despite not being the first buyer then i don't think i am in much luck there :(

Thankyou for your help though!

Any other ideas?

The MoBo actually has 2 chips you can swap between, and switching to "B" seems to let is stay on the 95 error for a fraction of a second longer, but that is the only difference.

I would like to avoid that as the reason for the re-build was to fit hardline water cooling (which i just filled to test the system) so that check will be intensive, and it was working fine before (the rebuild did not involve removal of the CPU) but if nobody has any other ideas then i guess that will be my next check.

What issue would it cause? i doubt enough heat builds up in the few seconds from boot to cause safety shutoffs, even without water flowing (which it is). Plus on the attempt with no ram it was able to stay turned on continuously, just with the no ram error code.
It was watercooled before, just not hardline.

I have just disconnected everything from the board, so it is just 1 ram stick, cpu, cooler and power supply (not even front panel connectors) and the issue persists, so there must be something wrong with one of these, or their assembly. :S

Fair enough, i will have to have a crack at that tomorrow then. Some more googling has thrown up that error 95 is "PCI Bus Request Resources" so an error in PCI stuff, but i have removed anything in the PCI lanes (both the graphics card in the build from before and the new WiFi card i added during the rebuild.) So no idea what else i could do for that?

Ok, so i have just removed the mobo from the case, removed the waterblock, checked the cpu and pins for damage. Then fitted the cooler and ram only with cpu and tried to startup outside of the case. and i am still getting the exact same error 95 before the board reboots then enters a bootloop. :(

Please does anyone have any more ideas on fixes?

So i have tried it bare bones on a different PSU and it did the exact same thing again. What should be my next step? Should i just accept the MoBo is dead and try and get a new one?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
