So, Its my first time building a PC and im concerned about my power supply. I have no problems selecting ram, HDD,DVD drive, GPU, CPU, Heat sink, or Case. I did a lot of research and I think I made good choices for the money I have $650 - 700 at the most. (Feel free to suggest better parts). My Main problem is selecting the right PSU for this rig. I don't want to under shoot or over shoot too much. I don't know how to calculate it. i tried a PSU calculator and it told me 1500 watts 0_o >

What I plan to build:

AMD FX-8350 Octacore @ 4.0ghz stock

ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 motherboard - AMD 990FX chipset

Thermaltake Versa H22 case

EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti FTW 2gb

Crucial Ballistix Tactical 8GB Single DDR3 1600 MT/s

Seagate 1TB Desktop HDD (not using SSD)

Asus 24x DVD-RW (any dvd rw will do)

Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120mm PWM Fan as my heat sink.

I was going to use a
EVGA 500 W1 80+, 500W Continuous Power psu

but my research made me think It might not be enough

the GPU may be a bit on the week side, and the CPU may be overkill for a budget PC But im pretty sure that's what I want

That FX processor is not what to buy for gaming it's already out dated and was not really good when released.
The W1 power supply is also not something to buy it's not the quality I would look for.
The 750ti is a very entry level gaming video card you can do much better for your money.
This would be just below your 700 dollar budget and give you much better performance.

10 bucks off the processor and motherboard when bought in this combo.
