Hello peeps,
I built a custom computer, most components from amazon.
i7 6700k
asus z170
corsair 16gb
those 3 are from amazon
( 1tb PNY ssd, evga 980 ti are from my old rig)

This build has been running flawlessly for about 3 weeks, starting yesterday I kept getting blue screen crashes every time with a different code-
all related to Power kernel 41
I tried everything and every solution on every form- I got the bluescreenview too and did more resreach.
1. I did a fresh install of windows from a boot usb - problem still presisted
2. I tried 1 single ram then the other- problem presists - I ran mem test it passed
3. I installed windows again from usb- still crashes
4. I installed windows media tool and choose the upgrade option -
computer has not crashed for 6 hours straight- played some games that i was able to install for about 2 hours no problems
- the biggest thing is that I have not installed the lastest nvida drivers, updated windows, or installed AI suit 3.

I am not sure if I should update drivers and install the AI suit 3

also 1 crash occured early at the morning at 8 am same error code, nothing since then and its 12am right now.

- my main concern is do you think the hardware may be faulty, should I order a replacement from amazon for my i7 and mobo, last day to order replacement is the 5th.
- btw I did secure erase the first 2x before installing windows from boot usb- the 3rd time I did not do that. I was thinking of formatting the drive nd reinstalling windows not sure if that is any different
- I am just not sure if I should replace my components to be on the safe side, I dont want to deal with RMA after the 30 day with amazon

Please help this problem has consumed my passed two days :/
sorry for the long post any help is appreciated!

considering you haven't tried anything of note to bug test? yeah, i'd say that's jumping the gun a bit.

Personally I don't know why you came into a forum to ask our opinions if you're just going to ignore what we tell you. a code 41 event is a windows catchal for an unexpected shutdown. It really only is triggered if there is a power disruption or a catostrophic hardware failure

Your problem is not driver related
your problem is not windows install related
your problem is not software related

your problem is hardware related, MOST LIKELY it's power related
Power related doesn't necessarily mean a bad power supply, but it does...

The power supply is new, and i tested it another computer works perfect. It worked perfect for 3 weeks.

I've never kept a psu longer then 4 years, your unit is 3yo, i wouldn't call it new any longer. These units fail are progressively higher rates the older they get, with the watershed year typically being somewhere between year 3 and 4.

all the parts are less than 30 days old- the ssd, graphics card, and psu are 6 month old.

Power related doesn't necessarily mean a bad power supply, but it does mean SOMETHING in your system is failing and causing power fluctuations. It could be you have a spacer behind your motherboard touching something it shouldn't, it could be a loose wire, it could be a screw resting on something it shouldn't, it could be a coffee stain on your motherboard, it could be caused by dirt on a part, it could be a dying motherboard or video card, it could be a dying fan, it could be a dying power supply

Of everything I listed the chances highest that it's a power supply problem.

I apologize if it seemed like I am ignoring your comments-
I take them very seriously and I do appreciate the feedback.
I made sure the motherboard is connected properly. I took the psu to an electronic shop and they tested it, and said its perfectly fine.

The last thin that i have not test is the outlet, I am not sure what to do or how to test it, there is another outlet across the room, that I will move everything to soon.

And I downloaded screen view and used to the google search option for the bug+driver.
And in regards to bug testing- I literally most of the forums on this site relating to this issue. ( sfc scannow, driver updates, power options suggestions, stopping some of background services, and clean installation of windows)

The main reason why i am concerned, is that I am a student and I used most of my savings to build this computer, so I am just a bit over worried.

Should I buy another power supply- I currently have an 850 w one, can i get away with getting lesser one it would be cheaper for me?

Again, thank you so much for your advice and I do take it very seriously, and I read all your responses!

Hello guys, not sure if this relevant or not-- But I just checked the other two computers and laptops we have in the house the event error and they all have a power kernel 41 error. Could that mean the electric connections throughout my house are faulty. UGH I am so tired of working on this issue :(

mmmmmmmmmm

you could try to take the power from the wall out of the equation and add a UPS to the system. those function as both surve protectors and battery backups, and if you're getting power spikes or micro failures from the wall, can eliminate them.

I would also take the time to breadboard the pc as well. got to make sure it's not a grounding issue with the case or a failing power/reset button (yes, I've seen that cause something similar before)

can you post the minidump file here from your crashes?
