Hi, I actually have some questions about my build, I am running out of budget and I was trying to save some money for the rest of my components and my graphics card, I have got the i5-6402p, instead of the i5-6600 which I believe is a big performance difference, but my concern is that I have got the corsair vengeance 16GB (4X4GB) and it's supposed to run @3000Mhz but seems like neither the 6402p nor the 6600 will use that much of ram speed, I can't even replace with the i5-6600 because it's out of stock at my local stores, is that making any sense with this build?

Solution
The i5-6402p is about 15% faster at most, assuming no bottleneck elsewhere like the GPU.

You can extrapolate that estimate by using Turbo Max - 200Mz (37-2)/(34-2) which basically means under heavy load the difference is about 15.6%.

DDR4 speed:
It's fine to have more bandwidth than you need. Either the CPU or the memory had to be a bottleneck.

Just assign "XMP" in the BIOS and it should choose the optimal memory profile. Test with Memtest86.com to confirm.

That's good to hear if the difference is not that big, the I changed my mind to intel for a reason, I was going to get the FX-8350 but it's not that good when it comes to single core performance, so I picked the I5, so mine is a 6400 but slightly faster than the normal 6400, so that's good.

About the ram, yes I think my mobo supports RAM oc, its an Asus Z170 Ranger.

Thank you so much first of all for these useful info, so I guess I shouldn't worry about changing/replacing the CPU I have now, I think it will work fine, it can go up to 3.3 so that's fine, and yea thanks for advising how to enable XMP for overclocked RAM speed [I need it in some other tasks than gaming]
