Hey,

I upgraded to Windows 10 recently and ever since then for some reason My HDMI audio is trying to play to a DVI monitor and not the HDMI output. I have a radeon 5870 with 2 monitors connected through DVI and my TV connected through HDMI. If I boot the computer up with my tv off or on a different input it will try to play sound through my monitor if HDMI audio is selected. When I want to use my TV for sound and video and switch the settings the TV will show video but sound will not play through it. When I go into sound settings it will say AMD HDMI Output not plugged in. If I switch back to my monitor it will say it's connected. When I switch to my monitor I also get a message saying it sees the DVI to HDMI connection to the monitor. How can I make it so it only plays audio through HDMI and doesn't recognize the monitors connected through DVI as an audio source?

Thanks for all of your hlep,
Jim

Are you able to hotkey your display setup with crimson yet? Was on crimson but jumped back to catalyst because they had removed the option to change display setups with hotkeys at the time.

1) What happens if the monitors are physically OFF when you bootup the computer?

DVI can output audio, though if you don't have a DVI-to-HDMI cable it must be getting confused and calling it HDMI audio.

2) Did you try BOTH the drivers I linked?

3) Can you DISABLE the audio through the monitor settings?
(not sure if that would help or not, or if it's an option even)

4) Do you have alternate INPUTS to the monitor?

5) What happens if the HDTV is assigned as Monitor #1?

If the monitors are off when I boot up the computer it will still assign the monitor the audio. I tried both drivers and it's still doing the same thing. The monitor it's assigning it to is an ASUS, it only has a vga and HDMI ports so I have to use a dvi to hdmi cable to connect the monitor. There's no option on the monitor to disable audio, just adjust the volume. Once the computer is booted up it doesn't matter which monitor the hdtv is. The only way I figured out to AMD HDMI Audio Out to the HDTV is to have the TV on and on the right input when I boot the computer up. I feel like it's a Windows 10 issue though. When I was on Windows 7 I had the same setup and HDMI Audio Out was always assigned to the HDMI port.
