Hey I recently bought a Fe GTX 1080 from Evga, in games like Overwatch I was averaging 78-81 degrees. I was wondering what the optimal fan setup would be. Right now I have 2 fans on, one in the front as intake and a rear exhaust both being 120mm, my PSU is also pulling air from the bottom. I just ordered two more fans both being 120mm, where should I put them? Thank you.

Edit: I'm not looking to OC the card
anytime in the near future, maybe in a year or so.

What speed is the GPU fan operating at? You might want to set a custom fan curve.

You mentioned your PSU is pulling air from the bottom but if it's anything like my PSU it isn't doing much for air flow, yours might be different, either way I believe a 120mm fan at the bottom shooting up will do a lot.

My case doesn't have a bottom fan but my friends larger case does and it shoots air right into the fan of the GPU blower and he has that fan maxed when he games.

I also like 2 fans at the top shooting out as it gets all hot air out of the top of the case which builds up, no rear exhaust is needed. That may help CPU temps more than anything though, what are your cpu temps?

1) The GPU is set to not throttle until it hits about 82degC, and often stays right near that temperature.

2) You need to monitor the GPU frequency to see if it's throttling down in games (some games run hotter than others). For example, if it runs at a solid 1800MHz without dipping there's no reason to mess with the fans in terms of GPU performance.

3) *Adding fans beyond a certain point makes little difference. The MOST BENEFIT is when a side case fan blow directly over the card, though you may need a new case for that.

4) Where to put more fans?
In general, try to make it so the intake is about the same as the exhaust. I'd have TWO in the front as intake and possibly TWO at the top as exhaust, though it's not clear if you have a CPU liquid cooler or not.

Overwatch likes to push gpu's
Use EVGA precision and max out the power and temp target sliders
Go into the fan curve and increase the fan speed to cool it down more when around 80c, you will notice it will run cooler and you will get better fps.

Just did #3 with a 800/1200 rpm 140mm fan on the side of my case and gpu temps went way down!

My CPU temps are fine it's just the GPU temps that are quite high I have an aftermarket cooler that helps the CPU a lot so I am not worried about my CPU. My fans run at around 1100 RPM and my case is an a31 chaser from Thermaltake so I would not be able to put a side fan directly on the GPU. Again thank you guys so much for the help.
