question about graphics card resolution

my amd 6670 has these specs.

DisplayPort 1.2
◾Max resolution: 2560x1600 per display
◾Multi-Stream Transport
◾21.6 Gbps bandwidth
◾High bit-rate audio
◾HDMI 1.4a with Stereoscopic 3D Frame Packing Format, Deep Color, xvYCC wide gamut support, and high bit-rate audio

Max resolution: 1920x1200


I want to connect to my 4k and set my pc to the highest res the card can handle but im confused...

as i have a display port to hdmi cable.... if i plug this is can i do the max display port resolution of 2560 x 1600 or because the end going into the tv is hdmi does that mean the max is 1920 x 1200 ?

also the 6670 is actually being ran in dual mode with the hd 8570d does this change anything ? a combined resolution of sort ? or still mean the above applies.

HDMI 2.0 is backwards compatible with every other HDMI version. If you use a HDMI cable you will be able to use a 4k resolution, if you use a display port adapter you will be stuck with the displayport...

1) You can't support 4K@60Hz.

2) You should be using the HDTV section of the AMD Control Panel and choose "1080p" instead. You may need to adjust the audio manually as well so it's on HDMI audio. (video control panel, or through lower-right, audio playback devices)

3) Dual Graphics can allow a higher FPS in supported games, but it won't let you get a higher resolution.

your GPU has HDMI 1.4a which can support 4K at 24Hz. you will want to go out and buy a HDMI cable capable of 4k and hook it up to your TV and the HDMI port on your GPU and you will have full 4K support. the GPU might not be able to playback 4K footage 100% but it will work

1) 24FPS is not "full 4K support", and

2) there's no point in getting a better HDMI cable than his HDMI spec for his GPU lists. He can't actually transfer any more data than this so it doesn't matter.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I doubt he wants 4K@24Hz which can't even play 30FPS videos.

if it supports 4k its full 4k support, never said it has full support for 4k30/60hz, that would be full 4k30/60Hz. he asked can he run 4k and the answer is yes but at 24Hz. 4k support means the GPU supports a resolution of 3820x2160 and it does over HDMI at 24hz.

my tv is 4k but the tv doesnt have hdmi 2.0 technology so i have the choice of only hdmi standard....

my graphics card doesn't output full 4k ? only 2560 x 1600 by display port and the tv doesnt have a display port input.

So all i can do is use basic hdmi or display port to hdmi.

so im wondering does using a display port to hdmi cable allow me the maximum display port res or the hdmi res.

and another question for watching media and browsing no gaming am i better with higher res lower frame rate or lower res higher frame rate.
