Hello everyone,

I recently bought the ranger mobo and with it the following:
Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz
Corsair RM750i PSU
Noctua NH-D15
Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2666 Memory
It's a new rig and my problem is that every once in a while i'm getting a Code 55 error (Memory not installed). This happens 2-3 times out of 10, the rest of the times it boots without problems.

What i tested so far was:
1. To use A1/B1 slots and A2/B2 slots with the same result.
2. Use one single slot with the same result.

Any ideas would be much appreciated!!

Thank you,
Nicolas

Hi alexoiu,

Sorry for the very late reply.
I think i found the problem.
First, i've removed the cpu cooler, and checked the pins on the mobo, 1 of them was a bit bent and i fixed it.
Then, i've checked again with both memory sticks and got the same error, so i've decided to try using just 1 at a time and found that 1 of the memory sticks was producing the error whereas using the 2nd (on the designated locations) didn't return any errors and it was working as expected.
I've notified the company and they'll replace the faulty item.

Thanks for all your help!

Hi alexoiu,

Thanks for the reply! I'll try that now and post back. I didn't thought of that since it's a brand new mobo and memory.

Hi alexoiu,

I've updated the bios. First boot got me error code 55, 2nd boot: overclock failed.
Then, i entered the bios and reset to default values. i.e. Auto for memory -> using 2133mhz instead of 2666. After the changes it booted just fine and after a few restarts (3-4) it keeps booting just fine.
I'll keep monitoring though because it might be pure luck. Also, what about the OC? Can i set it manually to 2666mhz?
Your help is much appreciated!! :)

Hi alexoiu,

The problem seems to still be there.. I've tested two more things:
1. MemOK passes every time i run it
2. Tested my CPU using the Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool with no problems

I've noticed that whenever i get my PC to boot from sleep mode i ALWAYS get a code 55 error.
Also, after the BIOS update yesterday, i once got code 36 and when re-started code 55. On the third re-start it booted without problems.
What i don't get is that sometimes it boots without problems and it's working fine for several hours but in the next boot, error code 55 might happen..

Any other ideas i could try?
Thanks in advance!

Hi, Thanks again for the reply! :)
I'll try it when i get back home from work and post any changes.

Is there a possibility of having defective mobo or memory or even cpu?
