Is the 4gb GeForce GTX 960 really going to better than the 2gb?

I have seen a few other threads like this specifically for gaming, but my question is not about how well this card will do for games.

I'm a 2D and 3D character artist and I use a lot of visually intensive programmes like Zbrush, Maya and the Adobe Suite. Unfortunately, my GTX 570 seems to finally have given out on me and I'm getting a lot of crashes, lagging inside programmes and when I do play games sometimes it overheats and shuts off display. All of this leads me to believe its the graphics card. If I could be wrong, please let me know.

Anyroad, I was recommended by an IT guy to get the GTX 960, and doing comparisons it really does seems to be the best for the money right now. But, I know very little about the specs myself. I se that there is a 4gb version, and to me that seems like a good idea for all the visual graphics work that I do. Is it really better to get the 4gb for 3d design work, or is the 2gb just as well?

Here are my computer specs (some of these will also be updated soon, graphics card is taking priority):
Windows 7 home Premium 64
Intel Core i5-2500 Processor (4x 3.30GHz/6MB L3 Cache)
Liquid CPU cooling system (SOCKET-1155 and 1156) Standard 120mm Fan
2 x 4GB HyperX RAM (8GB total)
Nvidia GeForce GTX 570
Gigabyte ga-h67ma-usb3-b3 motherboard
750 Watt Corsair CMPSU-750TXV2
500GB Hard drive
Both monitors are LG

Programmes I use most:
Pixologix Zbrush
Autodesk Entertainment Suite (noteably Maya, 3DS Max, Sketckbook)
Adobe Master Collection CS6 (noteably Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Priemere)
World of Warcraft (settings all low because I'm on wifi)

Recap, is it really work going for the 4gb for 3D modeling in particular? Will it help eliminate the annoying amount of lag I get inside most of these programmes? Are there any cheaper but still good alternatives to this graphics card?

Solution
Hi,

The 4GB version will generally offer better performance. And being 4GB there is more memory for you too use.

You might be better off with a Quadro if your serious about your modelling.
