Hey, I'm a little bit short on money now so I was thinking about downgrading my GPU. The reason for that is because the website I bought my GPU from has a 45 day return policy. If I downgrade My Sapphire R9 390X to a MSI GTX 970 I can save 150$ wich is money I need. So the big question is: What performance drop can I expect?

My specs

CPU: Intel Core i5 6400 @ 2.7Ghz (3.3Ghz Turbo)
MB: MSI B150M Gaming M3 Socket 1151 Skylake
Ram: Crucial 16 GB 2133Mhz DDR4 (4x4GB)
GPU: Sapphire R9 390X 8GB GDDR5 (O.C.)
PSU: EVGA Supernova 850W G2 80+ Gold
CPU Cooling: Corsair H60i Aio Liquid Cooler
Storage: Corsair Force LS 240GB (BOOT) Corsair Force LS 480GB (DATA STORAGE)

Am I going to experience a significant performance drop? The games I play are GTA V, CS:GO, The Crew, Chivalry Medieval Warfare and I am going to play Battlefield 1.

Answers and help is highly appreciated! :pt1cable:

I bought the PSU on sale for a very good price and the intel stock fan sounds like a plane engine ;-)

Get the Sapphire R9 390X and you will never listen the stock intel cooler again :D
But serious if you need silence then water cooler is not the way to go.
Try the excellent Noctua NH-C14 Lower Noise Heatsink.

Final warning: In a gaming build there is really no point in get the slower i5-6400 if you could get the i5-6500 for 15 bucks more.
If its about money you should adopt the regular storage solution: OS SSD + Data HD.

I will keep the i5 6400 as it's quite good, I've seen into the benchmarks and it's almost no difference to the i5 6500. I am so happy with the H60i as it's quiet, keeps my cpu surprisingly cool (22*C Normal, 38*C Full Load) using the noctua NH-1 Thermal paste. And here in Norway the 6500 would cost me 43$ more so no thank you :)

The price difference is this:

Core i5 6400 1833,- Kr

Core i5 6500 2190,- Kr

Differnce= 360,- Kr = 43.1$

I see. The turbo will near gaming performance anyway. Its is sure a great build mate. Congrats!
