So on Craigslist there's a guy selling for $300 a Gtx 970 strix and with modded bios at 1700mhz core an i5 4690k at 5ghz with 68c under load a msi gaming 5 mobo and 8gb of crucial ballistix. It's a really good deal by the looks of it but I'm worried about whether or not to go for it because of the extreme overclocking, or if I should get it as these are silicone lottery chips. Just asking for your opinion here. Thanks in advance for any replies!

Yeah i'd recommend you going with the 750w gold one. CX 600 is not that bad but if you are overclocking like that probabbly the weak capacitors won't be able to handle it at high load. Liquid cooling is nice but not neccesary (air cooling options are also good), however if you already have the H110 that will be a good cooling solution.

Overclocking is "safe" as long as you have a good Power Supply that can manage it and adequate cooling. If you are talking about gaming i wouldn't recommend overclocking since the difference is not noticeable in fps and it will shorten your CPU lifes pan.

In reaponse to bata currently I'm running a cx600m (I know let the hate begin) but I also have a rose will capstone 750 gold I could throw in. As for cooling I have an h110 on my 8350 right now with stock fans.
