Hello guys,

I have upgraded my R9 270X to a GTX 690.
I have done the upgrade because the card was not that expensive (€160) and i have read that it is a deasent card.

The only problem is that the card is running slow in some game like ARK survival evolved everthing low 40-50 fps.
But works great in borderlands 2 ultra 60-100 fps.

What could it be? And the card is getting really hot between 80-90 degreese celcius.

My specs:
MOBO: Asrock Z87 Pro4
CPU: Intel I5-4590 3,3 Ghz
GPU: Nvidia GTX 690 4GB DDR5
PSU: 650 WATT COOLER MASTER
CASE: NZXT H440
RAM: KINGSTON 16GB DDR3 (2*8)
SSD: INTEL 160GB
HDD: SEAGATE 1TB
CPU COOLING: COOLER MASTER WATER KOELING V2

Solution
Well 80-90C is close but not at the point of throttling. If it hits 95-100C that's when it throttles and shuts down to prevent damage. But right now it's okay.

1. Some games aren't optimized for SLI. Since the 690 is a dual 680, it may not be well optimized.
2. The PSU is throttling the card. Cooler master only makes some good models, some are bad. Wattage isn't the problem, it may be the quality. Use the psu tier list http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html to rank it. Tier 2 or 1 is fine, tier 3 may be.
Site for GPU PSU requirements http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page362.
3. The GPU is thermal throttling. Speed up fan or increase cooling.

1. Oke thats good to know that the game is not good optimized for some games.
2. I have looked it up and my PSU is not throttling the GPU.
3. Do you know a how to cool my gpu better because i have the fans on 100% but the tempature doesnt lower that much mayby 1-3c

I assume you bought it used? If so, remove the heatsink and fan, clean off all the old thermal paste, apply new Arctic MX-4 (or other good paste) on both GPUS, refit.

This should improve the temps if the old paste had not been effective (quite common on a card this age).
