Hello

Would like to know what people think might be best to get for 1080p gaming
i have no plans on getting a better res screen in the near future

Should i get a 1070 or 1080 for 1080p gaming? i want to drag everything to the right ( minus the hairworks, silly gimmick )

I see some people say gtx 1080 is overkill af when it comes to 1080p,but ive seen that games like Singularity cant even do 60fps on everything maxed out at 1080p res

So,what do people recommend? 1070 or 1080? What brand would you get ? MSI,ZOTAC,EVGA,ASUS ( money is no issue here )

Solution
A 1070 is more than enough for any AAA title at 1080p that I'm aware of, unless you're using a multi screen configuration. Even a GTX 970 is capable of just about maxing out most titles at 1080p, and the 1070 whips the 980TI, which handles every title I know of at 60fps or more. Singularity isn't representative of a good example, as there are other factors at play there such as an undeveloped API, immature DX12, bugs and drivers that probably are also not yet mature. 1080 is definitely overkill for anything not over 1080p. Probably can't hurt, if money is no option, but certainly isn't necessary.

Personally, I see far fewer issues here with EVGA and Gigabyte G1 gaming cards than I do any of the rest. ASUS is also generally very good...

i see,so you also think that 1080 would be overkill
i do got a dual screen, forgot to mention it,also unsure if it matters but my screen is 1080p 144hz

You are saying if possible, you would avoid MSI and Zotac and rather go for either EVGA,Gigabyte or ASUS??

If you have a 144hz display, then the 1080 might be a good idea. Couldn't hurt to have a card likely to hit in the high numbers with a big refresh rate like that. I would definitely probably go with one of the EVGA or Gigabyte cards. A lot might be based on preference though. Color scheme, actual cost and where you live could all be factors.

Never had a card that could hit those high fps, beside from moba games

My case is all black,so wont be able to see how the card looks like nor the lights, not that i care ,too "old" for those blings anyways :D

All i care about is the card with "best out of the box performance" and costume service ofc,but if im not mistaking, the shop where i buy the card is the one that does everything for me if something would happen to the card ( 5 year costumer warranty by law )

Im a bit worried about Coil whine tho, never had any issue with it before, but maybe cause ive never had so high fps before??

I haven't seen or heard of any coil whine issues on these cards. There were a few cards with some coil whine on the GTX 970 and 980 cards, which were ironed out fairly fast and were not prevalent on the 980TI at all. I wouldn't expect there to be any consistent issues in that regard on these cards, although any particular card can have coil whine if there is a flaw or defect from the manufacturing process. I have not heard of any such issues so far though.

ASUS, Gigabyte and EVGA all have very good customer service.

+ilalo83 I recommend the GTX 1070 for 1080p resolution gaming, up to 144 Hz. I've never been a huge fun of the 980 series. I feel that the 1070 and 1080 Ti (not announced yet) offer the best bang for the buck. I just wish the prices weren't be gouged with the Pascal cards.

At the moment im "playing" moba games via the cpu,and money isnt the problem so no offence to your suggestion ,but best bang for the buck doesnt matter to be tbh,i want best perfomance out of the box and a card that will be able do drag every graphic settings to the right now,and later on for 2-3 years atleast??!!?

MSI gaming x 1070 is available at my local store now,but they are going fast, but the mod here suggested other brands but the wait is long for those

The asus strix 1080 will be at my store this friday....hard to decide

At 1080P on either card getting high FPS is going to lean more towards CPU. The 1080 will maintain it longer though (probably into the next generation).

*Most* games I've been testing on my 1070 are pretty much maxed out at 4K and getting 40-60FPS but that is also much more demanding than 1080p.

Buy msi gtx 1070.i am using msi gpu i think it is very good brand because i am feeling it and also it has enough reputation.the 1070 is high end card for 1080p i think you can max out enything.also 1070 vs 1080 only 10fps different maximum in games.
