Phanteks PH-TC12DX vs Phanteks PH-TC14S Dual Tower

For i7 3770k, don't care about noise.. just best temps same price at my retailer.

I don't believe that every test result is representative of actual results, in every situation. I have the U14S with my 6700k@4.5Ghz, for example, and temps never go over 65°C when running Prime95 no matter how long I run it. With the 212 EVO it would either run into the upper 70's OR you had to have the fan running full blast. My temp was with the fan at only about 70%.

I haven't used the Phanteks cooler on this system to compare it to, but what I can say is that the Noctua cooler uses a far superior fan bearing which is likely to last much longer, so yes, it's probably worth the extra money, but perhaps not in this case, for you. I'm skeptical of many performance reviews, because I know they tend NOT to knock companies that are a bit...
I don't think I'd go with either of those units. The TC12DX doesn't have the greatest thermal results in reviews, and the TC14S has some construction issues such as fins glued rather than soldered to the heat pipes. Are these the only two coolers you'd consider? Where are you located and what is your budget? There are certainly worse coolers out there, and these aren't terrible, but you can probably do better for a similar price.

My budget is $50-$80 AUD (Australia is Location) through the cheapest vendor here there are the coolers in my price range:

CoolerMaster Hyper 212X @ $55
Cryorig H7 @ $55 (Not in stock till 30th of August)
CoolerMaster Hyper 612 V2 $65
Thermaltake Riing Silent 12 $65
Phanteks PH-TC12DX $69
Phanteks PH-TC14S Dual Tower $69
Cryorig H5 Universal (Not in stock till 30th of August)
Cryorig H5 Ultimate (Not in stock till 30th of August)
Be Quiet! Shadow Rock Slim $69

If the Cryorig H5 Ultimate was in stock, I'd be purchasing it but since its like 2 months away not really wanting to wait..

Of those, I'd probably say the PH-TC12DX or the Shadow rock slim are the better choices. I don't typically recommend 120mm coolers over 140mm coolers, but in this case the reviews show the smaller cooler outperforms the TC14S and the Shadow rock slim outperforms it as well. Likely if you added a second fan to the shadow rock slim, it would outperform them both since they are only separated by a few degrees, which is exactly what adding a second fan to most heatsinks nets you.

If you could scrape together another 26 bucks, the Noctua NH-U14S wipes the floor with all those coolers, and is quieter to boot.

If you didn't need it right now, and could wait, I'd say the Cryorig H5 is worth waiting for over these others except the NH-U14S which is more expensive. I'd take the H5 over any of the listed coolers but I also understand not wanting to wait. The shadow rock slim is a pretty good choice though if you have to move on a cooler right now.

Is the $26 worth 3c of temp? lol Comparing to the PH-TC12DX

I'm skeptical of many performance reviews, because I know they tend NOT to knock companies that are a bit looser with sending out review samples so they don't piss them off. The reviews of the Phanteks coolers at Frostytech aren't nearly as friendly as they are at some other sites.
