Hey Everyone,

I recently got my hands on a Crosshair V Formula Z board with an AM3+ 9590 CPU. Now I knew that the 9590 has its issue with heat so I purchased the Corsair H100i V2 to help with this.

However when I have gone to install the water cooler system I noticed the previous owner of the motherboard had removed the original CPU back plate and the H100i V2 requires that to screw in the stand offs for the cooler. I took the CPU back plate off that was on the board but now when I go to put the original back on I can see its going to be loose when attaching the cooler.

The problem is that the original CPU back plate comes thru the board and the stand offs tighten to that leaving the back loose.

Im sure I am missing something but just cant put my finger on it as the instruction for the H100i V2 if followed will leave the back plate and standoffs loose.

Any help appreciated :)

Edit: Adding an image of the backplate with the stand off screwed in. As you can see the backplate has 4 corner posts that slide thru the mother board but screwing in the standoffs does not secure this down to the board.

Second Image shows when trying to mount it. You can see the back plate coming right thru and the standoff doesnt tighten down onto the board. Could the back plate need some foam tape to secure it which would then mean the post wouldn't come all the way thru then allowing it to tighten?

I had a very similar problem. I binned my original CPU backplate and attempted to use metal brackets, which worked, but I suspect that they were shorting the mobo as the damn thing wouldn't boot.

You're going to need that CPU backplate, and they're like gold dust. Trying to find one myself for my 8350!

Even if I just finger tighten them as you can see in the second image the back plate is just floating around.

As the original back plate was removed and now Im putting it back Im wondering if it had some raised foam tape on the back of the motherboard which would mean the back plate post would not come all the way thru. I wonder if anyone with this board could confirm this.

I don't have an answer but i wish i did because i'm having the same problems with the h100i v2 The dude that posted about the h60/80/100 is wrong the v2 mounts to amd motherboards completely different.

And your right if you finger tighten them in or even if you cranked down on them the back plate literally wobbles.

Someone please post an answer to this.
