Hi all!
I am trying to brainstorm the design on my connections, and could use some help...
I have Cat 6 cables originating in the basement running to several rooms in the house on first and second floors. I was thinking:
- install cable modem (AC) and router in the basement
- connect Cat 6 cables (five) to the router
- install switch in the home office (on second floor) to connect two desktops, NAS, network printer, and Wi-Fi range extender
By doing this I thought to have Wi-Fi from the router to cover the first floor, and range extender to cover the second floor...
Does this make sense?
OR, will following design be better:
- install cable modem and router on second floor
- connect two desktops, NAS, network printer in the office to the router
- run Cat 6 to the basement
- install switch in the basement to connect the remaining rooms
Or, is there another design that would work better?
Thank you in advance for your help!
