Will the GeForce 9600 GT run on this system?

I just bought myself a new pc which has a Asus Z170 PRO motherboard and a i7 6700k, the rest of the specs don' t really matter I think.

The pc comes without a graphics card, because i'm going to buy it later this year from a different store. Instead I had an idea to use my GeForce GT 9600 1 Gb from my old pc.

The question is - will it work on that system? I've tried the pcpartpicker.com compatibility feature and it showed no issues.

If you saw the benchmarks and the i7 was faster than the 9600 how will using the slower card help you? Just having the second card in the system won't speed things up.

Not sure what you mean about the 635M, that's slower than the 9600 which is slower than the i7 6700k video. Sure the 9600 GT will be faster than the 635M, but you'll be slowing down the computer if you use it with the i7 6700k. Easy way to find out, run 3DMark, an older one...

Yes, I figured that out myself when saw the benchmarks, but still, won' t it help at least a little bit? I'm playing games now with a GTX 635M which by benchmarks is lower than the 9600 GT, so it should be slightly better, no?

Easy way to find out, run 3DMark, an older one though, say Vantage since the 9600 is older. Then install the 9600 and run the benchmark again, see what the score is.
