i7 cpu change

Solution
If those are your choices, the 6800k. It's several years newer, higher ipc due to being recent tech, supports more overall memory, uses ddr4. They run on different motherboards, the 4960x is a couple generations behind and uses ddr3. Or you could consider the i7 5820k which runs on the same 2011v3 board as the 6800k, offers speeds only 100mhz less, still has 6 cores with ht for around $100 less (u.s. pricing, prices may be different if you live elsewhere).
