Hi All. Can anyone tell me where I can purchase a Bios file for my Packard Bell Imedia please. I have tried the PB downloads site but there are no Bios codes listed....I purchased the PC from PC World who are a PB dealer...the mobo is a DAFT3L KELIA 12088-1M, I think its PBs or Acers own brand mobo.It has been suggested to me to go to the dealer, will PC World have a bios file ? Thanks for any help.

Solution
Latest news on this is....I posted mobo off to Biosmaster.co.uk, he removed the old Bios chip and soldered in a new one then flashed it with a Bios file from the mobo model nearest mine as he could find, on return I fitted the mobo to the PC, turned on and without any adjustments it started up...and straight to windows 10 and updated all the software, hey presto......Im delighted its been a total success, been using it for a week now no problems whatsoever. Cost £25 but the alternative was a replacement mobo. Iwould like to thank captaincharisma and mjslakeridge for helping and for having a sympathetic tone, thats what Toms Hardware is all about. thanks
On Packard Bell's main site, I see the ability to download BIOS files. Go to Support, then click on Download Center. Then you can select product from a list, and after entering your product information, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select BIOS/Firmware. I don't know your specific product information details, but I was able to get to a BIOS update for some random product I chose.

Thanks for the fast response on this thread folks, I have read your responses and acted.... I have just been on Packard Bells download site tonight (5/7/16)...and found that my model, and the 4 newer models (post) after mine have no Bios file listed, but...all the older (pre) models listed before mine have Bios files listed, the Bios files stop at my model number, I have left PB a message asking why on their customer support as you have suggested, i will get back as soon as I hear something from them. thanks very much for now

If there is no BIOS file listed for your model, that might mean the BIOS that came with the motherboard is the only one available. Why do you need to update the BIOS? Are you experiencing some system issues? Or do you suspect you have a corrupt BIOS and want to flash the original BIOS back? Hopefully PB will get back to you.

The pc is under warranty, Due to a lack of concentration I accidentally and very stupidly installed a virus that was disguised as a Packard Bell Bios upgrade ( it was very convincing) , I always check these things out by checking with a website to cross reference first but on this occasion I slipped up and the PC is bricked as they say. I have had the PC into PC World under warranty, they carry out warranty work for PB under licence, they said that the bios is corrupted due to bogus software I installed and under the terms of the warranty.... its voided, and so they need to change the Mobo, thats gonna cost £200 for labour and a new mobo, the PC cost £270 new.....so I have been talking to a well known local Bios chip expert, he says I have to get the bios file from Packard Bell...but its not listed on their site, I am waiting for a response from PB at the mo to see if they have a File....if i cant get one we will need another similar mobo for the Bios guy to copy the file from its bios to flash into my Bios. Otherwise I need an equivilent mobo, trouble is my mobo is not listed on any mobo comparison site, its made by Acer, its a DAFT3L KELIA 12088-1M. its a cracking little PC with 1TB, 8GB Memory, AMD A4 used for 3 months and I am loathed to bin it so Im trying to rescue it. I should know the score once I get a reply from PBs tech support, I may even end up trying to get a new mobo from packard Bell if I can get one.

That is unfortunate that a virus can ruin the BIOS. I was Googling around using your motherboard model, and I came across this link, the same thing happened to this other person:

https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?48606-Warranty-Pc-Bricked

He says the CPU is soldered onto the motherboard, so both would have to be replaced, in essence. He also said that he was going to bring the issue over here to Tom's, so maybe if we can find that thread we will know if he was able to get the BIOS file. His issue was back in March of this year, so hopefully he found a solution by now.

I will look for the BIOS file on Acer's site.

Thanks for the help mjslakeridge and others, That is my posting on PCspecialist from 3 months ago...... I have received a response from Packard Bell tonight, they say that all the hardware in my model PC, is made by Acer, and they have fitted the mobo with a non-re-programmable Bios chip, and "If you want to fix the problem you need to purchase a complete mobo from us". WOW... Im gonna see how much its gonna cost, otherwise its in the bin.

What a coincidence that I stumbled upon your post on PCspecialist. I don't think I would purchase a complete mobo from them. You could be facing a similar issue in the future.

I had never heard of a non-re-programmable BIOS chip, but it could be true. I was going to suggest trying to download the BIOS file for the version of your motherboard closest in time to yours and see if you can install it. At this point, it couldn't hurt anything.

Exactly right mjslakeridge.....I have been in touch with Biosmaster.co.uk, he/she reckons the non re-programmable chip story is rubbish, and has done a search and has found a Bios for the mobo model as close to mine as possible, so I have removed the mobo and am packing it off in the post, he/she is gonna solder a new chip into place and reckons there is a 80% chance of success of Bios installation for this board, I am happy to try it at that, I will have no regrets except that I was careless to download the corruption virus in the first place due to a lack of concentration and I will just have to absorb the loss, I will let you know how I get in in the next week or two. Thanks for your advice so far.
