I'd like to build my own PC Windows 10 so I'm thinking of a fast motherboard. But I'll use it for everyday, not for gaming. I may attach a good PCIe graphics card I have, but I don't want an excessive gaming motherboard, no overclocking please.

I'd like it to have the fastest flash-storage/SSD so it boots and runs fast. Something like Sata express or PCI-express M.2.

What about a barebone? don't know what that is exactly.

Careful. The better motherboards, especially most in the Z catagory tend to be gamer oriented as its gamers who tend to push systems the hardest. Consequently, they also tend to have the better options, such as 2x usb3 headers vrs 1x, built in pci-express or m.2 drive slots, support for nvme ssd etc. You won't generally find those on a h110 or a b150 board, which are the cheaper variety.

So find the motherboard that has the options you want, get the cpu that has the speed you want. Overclocking is an available Option on Z boards, only when paired with a K cpu. As said, it's an option, not a necessity or a default setting. You can use a K cpu on a H or B board no worries, but no Option for OC. You can use a standard cpu on a Z board...

Any modern motherboard will give you what you're looking for. USB speeds don't vary from one to another, nor do SATA III speeds.

You want the cheapest mobo you can find that supports your CPU.

No overclocking / gaming = no advanced features required, therefore - the cheapest would suite you the best.

If you want fast, look for a board that'll natively handle a Samsung 950 nvme. Probably will be a Z170 board. Pair that with a i7 6700 or i7 6700k and there's nothing cpu oriented you can't handle.

A barebones pc is a cmobo deal, usually a case, mobo, psu, cpu, hdd. Sometimes not all of them, sometimes extras like a lighting package.
