So the AMD A10-6700 is a quad core CPU, right? Well, I decided to look in system information one day and see that it may actually be just a hyperthreaded dual core cpu! http://prntscr.com/bpa9hq
Any explanations?
It's a 2 "module", 4 core CPU. Windows reads it as 2 core with hyperthreading...for the most part. AMD took a new approach to the design of CPU's. 2 "integer cores" sharing some resources in a module. You have a quad core, it's just that they are not like Intel's "complete" cores.
AMD's next lineup, code named "Zen", will be more traditional and be 4 full cores with hyperthreading, like Intel has.
