Upgrade from my current setup

Hi all,

Can anyone suggest me an upgrade path from my current setup? At the moment I have an AMD FX 6300 on an ASUS M5a97 R2.0 with a Sapphire R9 270 GPU. It was fine for the yesteryear's games. How good is it for today's games?

Does it make sense to go for the Intel Skylake i5 6600k or is the FX6300 good enough to wait another 6 months and get the ZEN? Also, does it make sense to upgrade the GPU to maybe the 380X or GTX 970? I was sort of an AMD fanboy a couple of years ago and as a result, the entire rig ended up with AMD stuff.

Get the best card, that you can afford, now, making sure your PSU is a quality unit/up to the task. Reuse it, when you make a decision on skylake or Zen, come october.

Does it make sense to upgrade to an 8350 or 8370 to keep it running for about a year till the ZEN becomes a bit popular and take a decision then? Will I get my money's worth from upgrading from a 6300 to an 8350/8370 for gaming applications?
