Hello!

The forums I read said that "Powerline Ethernet / Wifi extender" is better when you're unable to use wired connection. Do you have any suggestions on a good Wifi extender under $40USD? Something that wouldn't really hurt my connection with high pings or lag. I thought about getting the NETGEAR N300 Wi-Fi Range Extender, Essentials Edition. Will it make any difference if I get the 300 Mbps or 700 Mbps version?

My current internet speed is 15 Mbps (or up to 15 Mbps in Comcast terms). It's slow, but surprisingly it handles all the household internet uses. I will bump up the speed down the road. I will use the Ethernet port on that extender for my gaming PC and the WIFI for console gaming and media streaming device. The computer will be sitting one floor above the WIFI router I currently have.

Thanks in advance for your inputs.

your internet connection is not that important because it would never bottleneck the access point , you local traffic however is very important , for example if you want to transfer something from the computer to your console your Wifi connection speed matters.

the 802.11n is a good standard and will give you around 70 Mbps on the correct channel configuration. but if you want to go with higher frequencies you have to spend more money and i don't think you would be needing more speed than 70 mbps.

if you are able to spend extra 30$ these are very good:
