So, i have a kinda old VGA monitor with 1680x1050 native resolution. My system is based on a EliteGroup A790GXM-AD3 motherboard, which has an on-board HD 3300 graphics adapter. Now, i know this adapter is NOT supported in Windows 10, and i mainly wanted to use it to install a second monitor, but for now let's suppose that i will use it as my one and only primary adapter. Right now this adapter uses the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter driver.

My problem is that i can't select my native resolution, which is 1680x1050. Even in the advanced settings of windows 10, and while not hiding unsupported resolutions ("List all modes" button), even bigger resolutions are available like 1920x1440, but not the specific one i need.

Any help? Can i "force" a custom resolution somehow? Any other workarounds?

Thank you.

Hm, I see. If you really want to run W10 then you can just reside with the resolutions offer or get your hands on a second hand HD4xxx or HD5xxx entry level cards for <30 bucks which does support W10.

Well, this seems like the obvious last resort, i will try to get it to work this week though. After that i'll probably do that.
