Solution

go with the coolmaster, it will work fine. Also check on the warranty. Its different here in the US. If you are willing to void then go for it. But honestly, dont expect a huge boost or a super cool card. 80c is normal for a 970

I have never used pads and don't really plan to. I have seen comparisons of temps and paste always works better. Just know how to apply it (google videos for this, or search toms if needed)

Also, a GTX 970, I also have 2x with stock coolers, work great. Why do you need to change the thermal paste? Are you changing the cooler or going water cooling?

I prefer Arctic Silver. Has never gone wrong on me.

my 2x 970s get to 80c every time I play Overwatch. I have seen as high as 83c with no problems. The new GPU's are smart. Once they heat up the fans turn up higher and higher. As long as you are not getting and performance issues 80c is safe for your card(s).

If you are looking to lower your temp a new cooler wont help. The fans will just run at a slower speed and still keep your card around 80c. You could manually control your fans if you want a cooler card. If I turn my fan speed to 75% and game they run around 70c. But I prefer to allow the software to control the fan and turn up/down as needed.
