My system specs:

CPU: FX 8350 (4.3GHZ)
GPU: EVGA GTX 960 2GB (1.3GHZ)
MOBO: Asus crosshair v formula
Power supply: 1600w atx power supply (i know its a lot but it was given to me)

Would something like a rx 480 or gtx 970 be too much?
If a 960 is fine and i dont need to upgrade, then should i get a closed loop liquid cooler for my cpu or get an SSD?

Solution
My recommendation is:

First, almost, get back to the default clock of the CPU, isn't recommendable to OC with the stock CPU cooler.
Do you really need the OC?
Yes? -> Get a decent Aftermarket CPU cooler (like evo 212 or something that fits in your case)
No - > stay with the current stock cooler.

The truth is, FX 8350 is a CPU released from 2012. Its old, but in your current resolution, will do the job nicely (OC'ed or not) with the GTX 960 2GB. If you want to do a GPU jump, maybe the RX 480 2GB will notice improvement, but i'm not 100% due i don't see any benchmark done.

If you can play fine, then, no need for upgrade, just maybe a SSD optional (this will not do any influense in performance, just read/writes like i said before)...

I have no idea what you consider "too much". What resolution do you play at and what games do you play? Are you overclocking? If not you dont need a water cooler, even then most decent air coolers will get you a good overclock. An SSD would be nice it will help load times in games and might help texture pop in and if the OS is on the SSD it will help boot times and make your computer feel more responsive overall.

My resolution is 1920x1200, My 960 is perfectly fine and runs everything well, but I don't know if there is anything better i can put in there without bottlenecking... I would like a liquid cooler because my cpu cooler is wearing out and is super loud (I have the old cpu cooler that comes in the box)

are you looking to upgrade because your games are running slow?

Yeah, i would like an SSD for my OS since i have a 600GB for games.. What i mean by too much is like, will it bottleneck. I usually play GTA V, League of legends, COD black ops 3, just usually any FPS. I would love a liquid cooler for more quiet gaming AND overclocking as I would love to overclock my cpu a bit more.

If you don't have plans to higher resolutions, stay with the GPU.

Please, don't OC with the default CPU Cooler, you can burn it. Get a good CPU Aftermarket Cooler, or, go for closed loop like H100iv2 or something similar, maybe you can raise the current OC (if you really need it).

I agree, but by the looks of it i guess i might just get a cooler, Would the H100iv2 fit in a corsair carbide spec alpha?

Hope it helps.

Don't bother getting an aftermarket cooler for that cpu. Either sell it and get a newer one or just change the thermal paste and for God's sake, clean out the dust from it. When my temps go up, I blow out all the dust and there is about a 5 celsius difference. Weird huh?
Get the RX 480 and you're set.
