[Help] Power surges after installing new RAM

I recently purchased a HyperX Fury 8GB 1600MHz stick of RAM. Yesterday, after finding out that my mobo wouldn't allow it to run at 1600 (capped at 1333MHz), I decided to use it in conjunction with my other 2 sticks of RAM (2x2GB running at 1333MHz).

It ran fine, I used my PC for a full day. I wake up this morning, turn on my PC and it does this weird start, lights on for 2 seconds, stop, repeat. It also caused a power outage in my house (tripped the fuse box). I use an extension lead with surge protector but this didn't stop four separate power cuts upon hitting my PC's power button.

I took out the new RAM and the PC ran fine with the original 2 sticks of RAM. But I wanted to use my 8GB stick, and it wouldn't work by itself so I reset CMOS (both physical ways) and since then my PC would blue-screen just before the login screen. The last time I tried booting with just one stick of the original RAM and it caused another power outage. Any advice would be very much appreciated. I should note that I don't have any spare parts readily available to test.

Thank you in advance.

Your ram old and new needs to be similar so I would try to boot with the new ram and clock it to what your old rams settings are. Also try just plugging your pc straight into the wall with the surge protector not with the extension cable.

@Cooper0408

Thank you for the response.

I already tried to boot with the new RAM but it wouldn't boot. The surge protector is on the extension cable. The problem is now when I try to boot even with the old RAM it blue screens before the login page, and that's if it doesn't cause a power cut in my house.
