I have the M5A99FX PRO R2.0 with a 6300 right now and the gpu is the 280x (fxf)

I am going to sell the 280x to buy the 480 soon and i also want to sell the processor to get something better.
What should i get? the 8350 is better but what is the best processor i could buy, that would be compatible with that card?

the socket is am3+

Too much heat. Too much power required. Too much hassle. You need top end AIO water or custom water cooling.

Not only do you need to liquid cool the 9000 series, but they draw such tremendous power that the power delivery systems on many boards will heat up and fail prematurely. Other boards simply won't accept them at all. There are very few boards that properly power the 9000 series because they are each 220 watts.

Also, nearly twice the power draw for a 16-18% increase in clock speed over the 8350? That doesn't sound all that great to me. You also have to consider that higher wattage to your CPU means higher amperage being pulled from the wall. It could raise your power bill.

Also, many power supplies also struggle with the 9000 series. 220 watts is a lot to pull through just eight wires.

Just get the 8350 and a 212 EVO or a liquid cooler and overclock to +4.0. Just keep going up past 4.0 to see which one you feel comfortable with. Because with that you will get GTA V 1080p 60FPS no problem or other popular good port games.

Although if you want a good long lasting CPU go with a I5 4690k (yes it is better than a 6600k). And get a 212 EVO or Liquid cooler and overclock that.
