I have recently installed Windows 7 on a fresh hard drive. The problem that I am running into is that when I was installing windows on the hard drive, after the first restart it gave me the "A Disk Read Error Occurred Press CTRL+ALT+DEL To Restart Computer"... After seeing this error a few times, it suddenly went back into the installation as if the error had never occurred. After the next part of the installation, the computer restarted again, and I was brought into Windows 7 where I entered in the username I wanted as well as the computer name. I put in my mobo driver cd, installed drivers, had to restart, and upon restart...you guessed it "A Disk Read Error Occurred Press CTRL+ALT+DEL To Restart Computer".

What's odd to me is that typically when I have run into this issue, of getting the disk read error, it doesn't just, go away sometimes. When I had got it in the past, it was there and I had gotten a new hard drive and the issue was resolved.

Is there potentially a different problem going on here other than the hard drive itself or is the hard drive shot and just happens to be working "sometimes"?

Why would the "A Disk Read Error Occurred Press CTRL+ALT+DEL To Restart Computer" be only appearing MOST of the time, but not ALL of the time?

Solution
So...I solved my own problem. I switched which SATA port the hard drive was hooked into, and the issue was immediately resolved. Lol.

Just wanted to say that I appreciate this website very much and maybe this will help someone else, although I doubt anyone is as silly as me as to not try a different sata port on the mobo before posting on here. Either way, thanks for being here website, and everyone that contributes to it in a positive manner.
