Weird Graphics Problem, Half-Life Won't Even Run Anymore

Hey there!

My computer was running fine until yesterday, I tried to play Half-Life 1 (well, my little brother did, just for fun) and it wouldn't run at all. He had been playing it for the past few days and it ran fine, OpenGL enabled, running at full screen 1920x1080. Now it won't even run unless I switch to software rendering. After that I decided to update my graphics card drivers (R9 280X). Today I decided to play Sims 3 for a while and noticed all my video settings had been reset. Any ideas as to why all this happened? I am very confused.

Thanks!

Yes some games break after the client update and very often you are better off submitting a ticket to Steam who are very helpful with client update issues. It can be many things.

True, that might've affected Sims 3. The weirdest thing is though, Half-Life was already broken before I updated them. One thing I should've mentioned before though, I THINK Half-Life broke after a Steam Client update. I'm not sure that could be related. What do you think?
