I currently have my router on top of my desk, I think that my desk is around 1.4 meters large and 75cm depth. I'll be soon adquiring a new monitor that has a large stand and will not fit with this router up here, since i also have my PC case on top of the desk. This router eats up space and also looks ugly. I have two alternatives:

A) Getting a wall shelf and placing it up there, looks better and doesn't occupy space.

B) Putting the Router below my desk (70cm height maybe?)

What i wanted to know is how much internet performance do i loose if i place it on the floor level? I watch a lot of videos and do some gaming and internet is really important to me, but these router on my desk looks really ugly and eats up space.
Any other recommendations?

I have my router connected to my pc by ethernet cable, but does the router being at floor level means it gets less overall signal or something?.

Solution
Since you're wired, the placement of the router will have zero impact on your performance. For wireless, having it on the self would be much better than under your desk.

Um, how about putting the pc tower on the floor? Or even hang it from the bottom of your desk in one of those U-shaped cpu mounts/straps/hangers. (Whatever the heck those are). Or back to option A, throw it on the floor. Does it need to be up there? Get patchcords for any ext. harddrive accessability.

That doesn't really relate to my question but i'll answer anyway. I like to have my pc case over the desk, because it's less likely to get dust and i love to watch my pc from the side panel.
