Windows 7 freezes on welcome screen directly after logging in.

It also freezes on the desktop screen in safe mode and safe mode with networking. However, it works perfectly when launching in safe mode with command prompt. Any idea where I should start in finding the cause?

You could try restoring your system to an earlier point. If you have important work stored on your computer then this might be risky.

It could be related to GPU drivers. Or it could be the game. Which game did you play? Is it a game that you played for the first time on your system?
