Cooling system ¿What is better?

I have a btf90 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2882721&CatId=493 I think I wasted my money with that fan, but its my fault, now my question is how does the liquid cooling improve the performance, my friends tell me that it is only for space save, and it will perform as a normal fan. Is it true? do you recomend me to buy a liquid for my core2 quad 6600 or another fan for 40dollars??

The main benefit of liquid cooling is its ability to keep load temperatures low for a long time, eventually heatsinks cant take any more heat. Don't go liquid (unlesss its a self contained cooler like the Corsair h50) if you dont have a very thorough understanding of it.
