Motherboard BIOS cant boot into boot device

Yesterday I bought a new 225 GB SSD, I connected it, made it first boot priority in BIOS, installed Windows without problem, and everything worked great. Today I tried to start the computer and it said no boot device found, I tried manually selecting the SSD to boot from and it just hangs. Nothing has changed in the BIOS so I am kinda confused as to why all of a sudden it doesn't work.

It is in my capabilities to quickly reinstall Windows, but that means reinstalling ALL software, and I would really prefer to not do that again.

Please help, thanks!

This is unfortunate! Please make sure you find a spare SATA cable and see if you will be able to get the system to boot properly with it. If it doesn't work, unfortunately, you might need to redo the installation. You could also try connecting the SSD to another computer to see if it will get properly recognized there. However, changing the SATA cable should be a priority now.

Keep me posted!

Hey there, @ZeroByter!

I'd recommend you check how the SSD will get recognized if you change the SATA cable that is connecting it to the motherboard. I'd also make sure you have mounted everything properly and there are no loose cables. If changing the cable didn't help, you should also try plugging the SSD in a different SATA port on the mobo and check how it will perform from there.

If it still doesn't work, try resetting BIOS and re-configuring the settings for the SSD (put the SATA mode in AHCI).

Give these a try and let me know how it goes!
Cheers,

I don't have a separate SATA cable to try, I changed slots and nothing changed. I took out the BIOS battery and held the power button for 15 seconds, put back the battery, went into BIOS and all the settings where still there with no success with booting. I double checked and the SATA mode was always in AHCI and I made sure it still is.

I should add, the SSD shows in BIOS fine, but it still doesn't work.

Well, I have another hard drive that is connected with a SATA cable and the computer always booted from that fine until I switched to the SSD, so I switched cables and nothing changed. I guess the last resort now is to reinstall Windows which I am going to do right now.
