I got an old system from my relatives. specs are pretty old.
intel g2020 2.9ghz
msi h61m-p20(g3) board
2gb g.skill ripjawsx 1600mhz (runs at 1333mhz though)
seagate 160gb harddisk(7200rpm)
a local power supply of 430w

This system used to be ok before but after installing win 10 Os, it started to hang a lot, i mean literally a lot. takes about 5min to boot. And another 3mins whenever I open any application like explorer or firefox, firefox takes really a lot more time to do anything, not only firefox but any other browser is also acting in the same way. I'm a bit tight on budget now, I'll buy needs for this pc later definitely but I can afford either a hard disk( will be Western digital 1TB caviar green) or an 8gb gskill ripjawsx 1600mhz ram. Just only one among these.
What should I buy among those to improve the perforamance at the least possible?
In simple words, what's making this system slow? plz help.

Solution
2gb is simply not adequate.
The ram upgrade would come first.
But, if you are running windows 32 bit, as I suspect you are, you will only be able to access 4gb.

Whenever you can, convert the hard drive to a ssd.
You will be amazed at the difference it makes.
Look for a 240gb Samsung evo.
Then use their free ssd migration tool to copy your "C" drive to the ssd.
