Hi,

I recently upgraded my PC, buying a new MOBO and CPU, I made a partition with my old copy of Windows on my SSD, so I could install the new OS and later merge that memory once I worked my way through the important files. That's handled and sorted, however now that empty space is unallocated and it won't allow me to extend the volume. I'm running Windows 7 for anyone wondering.

How can I extend this volume and get that unallocated memory back?

Solution
Windows has limited ability for managing partitions. Try a 3rd party software like MiniTool Partition Wizard: https://www.partitionwizard.com/

Word of advice before you start messing with the partitions is to make a backup as it can go wrong.

I've always used the Easeus Partition Master program for such things you're trying to do. There's a free version for non-commercial use. I second the motion to make a full system backup before making any significant system change.

Good luck.
