*Using an Intel Core i5 2310 paired with a GTX 960*
So after suffering heavy frame drops on many of the titles that I play I decided to look into my CPU temps and discovered that it tops out at 79 Degrees Celsius, well above the recommended temps for the 2nd Gen Intel CPUs (When compared to a 2500k). I will take it upon myself to clean the entire PC to see if I see any improvement because I remember the performance of my rig was really stable when I first purchased it.

I want to know if I have made a mistake by not doing maintenance on my computer much sooner and potentially damaged my CPU. And I probably f-up even more by having thermal throttling disabled on the BIOS in an attempt to improve frame rates.

I've seen intel CPUs reach a higher temps without having issues, however this doesn't mean that high temps don't damage your cpu, is just that they can stand some mistakes, but not for long.

You shouldn't have disabled thermal throttling, this is to save your CPU from damage, also Its recommended to keep an eye on temps with an OSD software like MSI Afterburner while playing, this will show you with anticipation any possible issue you could have.

Maintenance is very important to keep your pc running correctly.
