Are you asking if you can connect the drive to the computer via an optical cable, if so then absolutely not, no. The biggest similarity between the two is the fact that they both have the word "optical" in them. For a computer you connect it to the motherboard with a SATA connector.

Now if you are asking if you can output the audio by connecting an optical cable from the motherboard to a surround receiver or TV then yes. (note this is only audio and will not in any way transmit video).
