i had a gtx 970 but i did not use pretty much because i don't play that much just some times. So i swapped video card with my younger brother. now i have a r9 270x 4gb ddr5 sapphire. i did this in the following order
-unistall everything and shut down my pc.
-unplug the gtx 970.
-connect the r9 270x
-install lastest drivers (radeon-crimson-16.6.2-win10-64bit)
-restart

then i played something and it was good, nothing to worry i though. But today my little brother was playing dota 2 and an error pops up "video driver has stopped working" and the game freeze.

what should i do now? should i format my ssd (just OS win 10) and re install win10? or should i open the registry editor and create the TdrDelay thing?

That happens from time to time. You may just need to clean out some registry errors, program conflicts, and other resource-wasting crap from your system. Run CCleaner and do the Clean and Registry portions both.

If the problem still exists, start over on the driver installation by running DDU from safe mode.

Have it remove any remnants it finds of AMD and Nvidia drivers. Reboot and install the latest driver for your card and OS.

thank you and just to be sure i formated my ssd and did a clean install. So far the problem look like is solved. and just to be totally sure this error is always from some drivers or it could be from the gpu itself? thank you again

Wow, that was a drastic solution! I don't think you needed to do a clean install of the OS and all your apps.
Yes, it can be a hardware-related issue as well as a software issue. But usually, it is software-related. If it happens after a clean install of everything, chances are it is hardware.

yeah i know i could be a little drastic but just to be totally sure the video card is fine. And now I had some free time, so my cousin and i played dota 2. I started dota 2 nothing happend, we connected to the game, all the player connected and then boom, i was out of dota 2. No message pops up regarding the drivers of the video card falling and recovering, it just exit dota 2. so i reconnect and everything was fine apparently (no problem). so i was freaking out and checked other games but no problem, everything was smooth it is just dota 2. So what should i do? what could be the problem?

thank you

update
I'm using AMD Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.6.2 and i was reading the patch notes

Known Issues

◾Dota™2 may crash when using the Vulkan™ API and the user changes resolutions or quality settings.

should i just upgrade the video card driver to the 16.7.1? but is mark as beta so idk. and if i do that should i use ddu to unistall everything and then install the new driver o just install the driver without ddu?

thank you
