hello guys, this is my very first time putting together a mobo, cpu, and psu together that i obtained from my cousin and its my first time posting on here (go easy on me please ^_^"). the cpu was already installed onto the mobo, so all i did was plug in the wires (i want to say correctly, but chances are i havent quite got it) after switching the parts, started the pc up, fixed a few errors, then i checked the BIOS screen and saw the temp cpu overheating on idle with 80+C. i am using the stock fan for the asus mobo(still am, atm). then i switched thermal paste and it slightly worked. im getting it to run at 67-69C, which is obviously better, but still a concern as to why its running so hot on idle. At times the screen says "overclocking failed", and at other times my mobo flashes red light on VGA and BOOT HDD LED...not to mention when i let the pc start, the screen goes blue and tells me the pc has problems and will auto restart and such...first off, i just want to know how the hell can i get my cpu to cool off (looking to invest in cooler, btw) and prevent those red lights from flashing on my mobo...my build atm is

asus p8p67 pro mobo
i7 2600k
stock fan from asus
2 DDR3 ram (2gs)
850w psu
500Gb HDD
another pc fan.
CD drive (idk which one)
gtx 610 gpu (getting 970 in near future)

if anyone can assist me with any solution to these problems or need more specified specs, just let me know. i would greatly appreciate any kind of help.

Solution
You should try resetting the bios, if you can't get to the screen, remove your CMOS battery for 5 minutes and put it back in.

i can get to the BIOS screen, its just that my cpu temp is super hot (for some reason) and when i let it boot up, i get the blue screen of ''windows ran into a problem and will restart'' i forgot to mention i had windows 8, but upgraded to 10. and im still using the same hdd i had previously.
