I am currently building a PC and purchased ASUS's Z170 Pro Gaming mobo. I confused this with the Z170 PRO. My understanding was that the Z170 PRO Gaming does not support NVMe technology but the Z170 PRO does.

I want to get the best performance out of the drive so my question is will it be limited to AHCI sata speeds if i keep the PRO GAMING edition or should i upgrade to the PRO to utilize NVMe?

What should i do if i want the most out of the m.2 SSD?

Thank you

Yes! Z170 Pro Gaming works with SamSung 950, Just build a system for my clients
If you are install Win7, then you need to have a USB with Samsung NVMe drivers so you can load it during installation other the Window wont see Samsung 950
Go to Amazon.com and Newegg.com . Type in "NVMe M.2 motherboard". Both companies have different NVMe motherboards for sale. If you want M.2 that can handle the 950 at full speed, you need M.2 x4 and not just M.2. The differnce is that M.2 is 10Gb/sec. M.2 x4 is 32Gb.sec.

I even saw one motherboard made by AsRock that had triple M.2 x4... Yes, 3 of those.
