(English is not my main language so if I'm not clear enough on something ask me and i'll try to answer it if i can.)

Hey people, I need help installing windows 7 starter.

My pc had this Operative System when I first got it, but due personal reasons i decided to install windows 8.1 on it and forgot to activate it, and my pc didn't turn on since then, stuck at windows logo. I tried to install windows 7 again and got an error 0x80070057, I googled around and found a thread on microsoft official site that said I needed to format my Hard Drive and re-create it, then it should work. Basically it didn't work, finally i decided to try and boot it again without the USB drive i was using to install and it gave me an error saying something like "Hard Drive error. Press ctrl+alt+delete to reboot" and doing that it just entered in a loop of error messages. I really want to fix my pc so if anyone can help me i would appreciate it. I'm also using an original cd key for the os if that affects anything. I don't really remember the specs but if it helps.. it has an Intel Atom processor of 1,6 Ghz, 2 gb of ram, a 500gb hard drive.

Thanks in advance!

If you do need to replace the drive or test it, you should open the case, there's no way around it. If you don't feel comfortable doing that you could go to a computer service shop, just make sure that opening the case does not void the warranty of the computer. Because if this is a pre-built desktop computer then opening the case might void its warranty, so you should contact the manufacturer and ask about that. There's usually a sticker on the case as well in such cases.

If you decide to open it yourself, check if you've removed all the screws and you could also look for a video tutorial on how to open that case model.
Hey there, Ragna_.

It sound like there might be a problem with the HDD itself. So I'd suggest that you try it out with a different SATA port and cables, or even better - with a different computer, to see if the same thing happens. You could also test it with its manufacturer's diagnostic tool to see if there's anything unusual going on.

I don't want to intrude and ask about your personal reasons for deciding to install Win 8.1, but if you previously had issues with your system, the drive might have been the cause for that.

Please let me know how everything goes.

Well you see, I've tried opening the pc case but it seems like the case is "sealed". What i mean by this is that, i cannot access the components inside it because if i do i will break the case. It's no big deal, before I installed windows 8.1 my pc was really slow and just said "screw it" and installed windows 8.1. k t
I'm aware that the USB Drive i'm using works, because i plugged it in my laptop and it went just fine.
I don't think there's anything I can do other than buying another HDD, I will keep trying to fix it, if anything happens i will post back.

Thanks.
