Hey guys so I'm having some problems with my graphics card. In particular I have the ZOTAC GTX 1070 AMP edition, and this psu, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438054.

The card came with two extremely short cords that have a 8 pin on one side and two 3 pin receivers on the other. The card has two 8 pin receivers next to each other. My psu came with a VGA cord that has a 8 pin on one side and a 6 pin and a 4 pin with a smaller 2 pin next to it on the other. My computer only starts into windows when I only use the psu cord and plug the 6 pin and 4 and 2 pin into the card, and the other end into the PSU. However, no games will play, and when I try to use crossfire I get an error code, so the card doesnt seem to work.

If I plug the cords in any other way, the computer simply wont work says please connect pcie cords.

So is something wrong with my hardware, or am I simply doing the wrong thing? Please excuse any ignorance on my part, and all help is GREATLY appreciated!! Thank you!

Can you please explain how I would do this? My PSU has two 8 pin slots, and came with lots of cords.

In the pic above there are 2 cables marked VGA (2 & 3 from top left hand side)

Take both these cables .
Plug the solid 8 pin end (not the 6+2 split end) of both cables into the 8 pin ports marked VGA 1 & vga2 on the PSU.

The other ends have a 6 pin and a 6+2 pin .

Slot the 6+2 pin together first & plug into GPU 8 pin slot 1
Do the same with the other cable into the seconds 8 pin GPU slot.

Ensure your display is plugged into the 1070's video output not the motherboards.

Install the nvidia drivers from here

I can confirm that I have the VGA cords plugged in that way, yet I can still not play any games, (CS:GO told me I lacked drivers a graphics card) I have tried downloading drivers off of Geforce and Zotec but they never install after saying its not compatible with my OS (Windows 10). Im starting to think I did something wrong. Did I miss something in BIOS with the card? Is it simply a driver issue?

Also, I looked in my device management and couldn't find my card there. The current Zotec firestorm program I have gives me an error when I start it. Thank you for your help btw.

Basically if you have the required power connected directly from the power supply unit to the GTX 1070 graphics card it`s self.

And when you install the video driver for the GTX 1070 card.

If the card is not picked up by the Nvidia driver, it means you still have not connected all of the required power to power the card.

Your problem is your assuming it`s a lack of power to the graphics card.
But why the card is not detected when fitted into the Pci-e graphics card slot of the motherboard.

Is because you have forgotten or missed also connecting the required eight pin 12v E-atx or 12v EPS power connections direct from the power supply unit also to the motherboard.

Please name the bran of motherboard you are using, and the exact model number of the motherboard illskatrillz

You also need to tell us what version of windows you are using and the bit version.

For example windows 10 64bit.

Post the motherboard brand name and the model number of the motherboard and the version of windows you are using and it`s bit version.

That's not true at all. Sounds like you've never dealt with non-legit OSs.

More than likely. he simply downloaded the wrong drivers - 32bit instead of 64 or vice versa.

Didn't say it was the only reason. I've dealt with them alot...been messing with pc's for over 20 years and non legit os's have often been the cause of software issues.

If the drivers are saying they don't like windows 10 then it could well be the wrong driver version.

I've been dealing with PCs for about 20 years, and up until Windows 10 (and not counting work PCs) dealing with only non legit OSs.

Never have I had problems with any of them due to drivers on a non legit OS, EXCEPT for AMD video cards, but that was due to those cards and AMD being garbage.

Well I can't claim the same level of illegality as you, but I'm just speaking from experience and it was only to give the OP a heads up should he be using one - they can and do cause problems.

Since around w7 I've had the good sense and funds to just buy proper OS versions.

I see. Any previous attempts at downloading the drivers have failed. However, I just discovered that I need to update Windows 10 which I am currently doing. Perhaps the drivers will install now.
