Hello,

Thanks in advance for your help. My issue is that I got the Radeon 280x from a friend, and I can't get my computer to boot up with the new card. I am running into an error 97 that shows up on my motherboard.(Asrock p67 extreme4) I have read all sorts of posts, but it appears from some people that my cpu (i5 2500k) does not work well with pci-express 3.0. I don't want to go through with updating bios if there is no way for this set up to work.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks

Hello There rhinoboy18

I own the same Intel processor, i5 2500k and I have had the "PowerColor Radeon R9 280X TurboDuo OC" for 2 years now.

I have not had a single issue with it whatsoever.

I would suggest the following:

1. Make sure that the card is working on another PC
2. Restore default settings in the BIOS

If the above 2 do not work, post a phone screenshot of the error message that you get.

Finally, What is the card you are replacing?

Thanks for the response.

1. I know the card works. My friend had it working fine in his rig.
2. Will try :)

My old card is a Radeon HD 6950. I thought the issue might because of going from a pci 2.0 to a pci 3.0.
