I recently switched my machine to an mATX build, I have an AMD FX-6300 running at 3.7 GHz for now, Asrock 970m Pro3 mobo, Sapphire R9 270 running at stock speed, and a CX 750m PSU, all inside the Fractal Design node 804 case. My issue is at the back of the case there is a 3 speed fan switch built into the case, whenever I change the speed of the fans while the computer is running, my whole computer freezes and must be hard reset to get it running again. My os is on an SSD with a HDD for mass storage. This problem is quite irritating as I like to turn the fan speeds up during gaming. This is not a result of running games too hard as I have done it while the computer is idle and I still come up with the same problem. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

Solution
did you try to use another connector on the psu for fan controller there could be something with the controller check all wire and see if there is not a sign of a defective part in .

I would like to point out to anyone who will help, the case fans are not plugged into the motherboard they go straight to the speed controller which is plugged into a sata power slot on my power supply.

I tried that and it didn't work, after though I unplugged a different fan hub I had plugged in but not hooked up to anything which seems to have done the trick, must have just been drawing too much voltage off the sata rail and freezing my ssd.
