Hi, I've just recently had to reinstall windows 7 onto a different hard drive due to unknown problems with my SSD. I know my graphics card (GTX 970) is fine and I haven't touched it at all lately. I was playing games and working in photoshop with absolutely no issues before I reinstalled windows.

The problem is that whenever I try and install the drivers through Geforce Experience, even if I try a clean installation through a custom install, it winds up not displaying my login screen. When I type my password to login, it displays a smaller, boxed in version of my desktop without any icons or taskbar. I was able to revert the drivers in safe mode, but since this is a fresh install, I don't have any old video drivers, meaning I can't really play anything. Any help would be most appreciated.

Oh, I feel like it's worth mentioning that on my old setup, due to either system files or registry issues or whatever, my Geforce Experience wouldn't work, so I couldn't use Shadowplay or, more importantly, download new drivers. I'm not entirely sure what version I was running.

Thank god, I was able to figure it out thanks to this thread. I opened up my computer, removed my GPU, blew on it a bit, and put it back in. I realized that I also had two cables connected to it - my monitor and my HDMI cable hooked up to my TV. I don't know whether it was moving the card or removing the cable, but I don't care because it worked.

Okay, so I installed version 347.88 from March of last year and ran into the same issue. The most updated version is 368.69. I'm going to try 344.16, but I don't have much hope.

EDIT: Yup, same problem. As a last ditch effort, I just put in my EVGA CD to install drivers 344.11.

EDIT 2: lol nope I'm out of ideas
