Hi there my computer had a meltdown last week basicly when i moved home whilst in transit shower gel spilt onto the graphics card

I turned it on booted up fine then
drilled my sons tv bracket to the wall i remember smelling a nasty smell but presumed it was just the hammer drill doing its deed i came back to my computer switched off wierd? i restarted it no display! switched pci express slots no display! Reseated card checked connections no display!

I then removed the card and to my joy there was invisible sticky shower gel on it!!! It smelt nice actually then further down the pcb it smelt like burn i ordered a new Asus m5a97 EVO board but with the little money i had left i got the best card my local pc repair shop had which was a GTX 580 1.5GB for £40 the board was toast the red LED would say no vga even with the working card no matter what i did.

I then looked into benchmarks and this card is quite good actually not top notch but takes blows into my R7 260x that blew up how is that? i thought the 260x 2gb was newer?

My question to you guys is how well will this card run modern games is this better then the 260x 2gb i only game at 720p 1280 x 1024 my idea was to upgrade the monitor sell the old card get a 280x 4gb but that went tits up with money on repairs lol

is this Good card overclockable card?

My specs
Windows 10 (64)bit
8gb DDR3 2400mhz
128gb ssd
Gtx 580 1.5gb
2000gb hdd

Thanks

Joe

Solution
A GTX 580 1.5GB for £40 is actually a pretty good deal, considering VAT and the horrible markup on computer equipment in the UK.
