Hello all,

I have just built myself a pc to celebrate 18th but it is not going well, currently I am unable to install windows 7 on my computer with no OS , I have some idea why but could you please tell me if I am on the right lines.

motherboard - asus b150-M has both usb 3 and usb 2 ports but NO CD/DVD drive.

I was able to reach / am able to reach BIOS .. ez mode ?
Possible issues:

1- NO DEVICE DRIVERS were installed , i have no disk drive to install them , any ideas how I could?

2- USB with iso could be a usb3

3- Maybe iso is damaged , unlikely though from verified source,

4- USB boot was made using windows usb/dvd tool.

I have tried:
Putting usb in usb 2 slot
putting usb in different slots when that message appears

Many thanks for any help.

EDIT: is it worth just getting a windows 10 iso and using my windows 7 prof key to activate it , will a unused oem key even work on my pc ?

Solution
You can activate Windows 10 Build 1511 with compatible Windows 7 and Windows 8 keys, but you have to hurry up.

On another PC - use Microsoft tool (either for WIndows 7 or Windows 10) to prepare bootable USB disk with installation, or borrow a DVD drive from a friend (or buy one, both internal SATA, and external USB DVD drives can be found for $25). Once you install the OS, download drivers from Asus on another PC (you'll need at least the LAN driver), copy them to USB disk, and install them as usual.
